IPR INTAN UPM

The Agricultural Industry Centre of Excellence Program (IPR INTAN @UPM) is a special program that trains 130 participants as high-tech agricultural experts, as well as IPR INTAN National farm manager trainees over a 2-year period at the Agricultural Industry Centre of Excellence, Ladang Pusat Pertanian Putra, Puchong.

The organization of the program is to support the initiative of the Ministry of Economy through IPR INTAN to increase the income of B40 through agriculture with an estimated additional income of RM 2000.00/month. In addition, this program does not only focus on increasing income but also fulfills several strategic agendas. Among them is fulfilling the UPM Strategy plan which is to strengthen the contribution of agriculture in addition to empowering students. In addition, this program is also in line with the core strategy of the National Agro-Food Policy 2.0 which is the modernization of agriculture, increased production, talent development, sustainable agricultural practices, and a conducive agricultural ecosystem.

This program offers 2 modules for the year 2023-2025, namely the crop and aquaculture livestock modules. The program duration for the crop module is 1 year, while the aquaculture livestock module is 1 ½ years. In both of these modules, participants will be allowed to run a commercial crop farm or aquaculture using the latest technology and also learn to build a sustainable financial base. Support from the industry and monitoring from UPM will help participants in this process.

The learning process in this program involves consultation and project implementation according to the modules taken by the participants. In addition, experience sharing and collaboration with instructors and mentors from UPM as well as industry strategic partners are part of this program. Technical visits to successful agricultural farms were also held to give participants exposure to the world of high-tech agricultural entrepreneurs.
